As is well-known, Volkswagen Ltd. is headquartered in Wolfburg, Germany, and become one of the largest automaker today. The Golf series is a small family car produced by Volkswagen since 1974, marketed worldwide across seven generations. It's so popular around the world that it has various nameplates-such as the Volkswagen Rabbit in the United States and Canada, and as the Volkswagen Caribe in Mexico.
 
In May 1974, Volkswagen presented the first generation Golf as a mondern front-wheel-drive, long-range replacement for the VW Bettle. The idea "Paper Folding" design proposed by Italian car designer Giorgio Giugiaro endowed the first generation with an indelible classic look. You might don't like its boyish style of the square head, but when you look at it again at the present time, you will find that the simple lines are so charming. The miracle is that the success of the first generation led to the mass production and sale in South Africa until 2009.

There is less agreement on why it is called Golf. No right answer. There is saying that it comes from German "Golf Strom", gulf stream in English, to show its streamlined apperance and rapid speed.

 
The interior design of Golf MK1 is a little too neat. The Wolfburg logo is placed in the center of the steering wheel. There is a time clock instead of a tachometer on the left side of dashboard. The silver plate on the center console, it's very impressive. A more interesting thing is that the instruction of the gear knob is placed above the cigarette lighter on the side of co-driver. For learner drivers, the design can make them crazy.
