History of the Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck

The Toyota Tundra is an American version of a big pickup truck.
Back in 1993, Toyota made a push into the full-size pickup market in the United States, but it proved unsuccessful. This led Toyota to return to the design studio and redesign its model. Seven years later, in 2000, Toyota again struck the North American full-size pickup market with what would become known as the Tundra!

The Toyota Tundra pickup is a great chauffeured vehicle for long trips, and it was once sought after because of its versatility - combining the off-road performance of an SUV, the cargo capacity of a truck, and the comfort of a sedan.

[First Generation 2000-2006]

The first generation of the Tundra was slightly larger than the T-100 and added a V8 engine version. Nonetheless, the first-generation Tundra was still a bit smaller than its American pickup truck contemporaries.

Throughout the first generation's lifetime, the 4.7-litre V8 version was upgraded from 245 hp and 427 Nm to 282 hp and 440 Nm. The 190 hp, 298 Nm 3.4-liter V6 was upgraded to a 4.0-liter V6 in 2005 with a corresponding increase in power to 236 hp and 360 Nm. In 2003, the Tundra added a double-cab model. Toyota commemorated its first participation in NASCAR with the Tundra Darrell Waltrip Special Edition in 2006. At the time, however, the big three U.S. pickup truck makers had yet to make the Tundra a real competitor, except for its highly competitive powertrain and innovations. And no one could have imagined what amazing power Toyota would show in the years that followed.

[Second Generation Models 2007-2013]

When Toyota released the second-generation Tundra pickup in 2007, Toyota swore that the new Tundra would sell at least twice as many units as its predecessor. Indeed, Toyota built a better pickup truck than the Big Three American manufacturers. The Tundra has a class-leading V8 engine, great towing and hauling capabilities, and best-in-class handling and ride. The Tundra itself is an American design, also built at Toyota's plants in the US. Toyota unveiled the second generation Tundra at the Chicago Auto Show, which is larger than the first generation. This is what we often refer to as the '09 Tundra. It was born in 2007 and retired in 2013.

[Third Generation: 2014 - Present]

Seven years is a typical model year cycle for full-size pickup trucks. During this time, manufacturers usually make more significant changes to their models. The new 2014 Tundra, which has been redesigned from the ground up, adds many bold elements. It makes the perfect combination of sophistication, beauty, and fine workmanship with reliability, efficiency, and power. The new design team has given it a more impactful hood and front grille. The front grille is huge and connects to the headlights and lower bumper. Together with a lot of chrome trim strips, it makes up an American-style front face!

The 2014 Tundra will include the Regular Cab single-row, double-, double-row, and CrewMax double-row short cargo versions. These include 3 power configurations including a 4.0L V6 engine with 270hp and 377N-m of torque. the higher trim levels will be powered by a 4.6L i-Force V8 engine with power figures of 310hp/543Nm. in addition, Toyota also offers a more powerful version of the Tundra with a 5.7L i-Force V8, which is the same as the 4.6L version. torque is the same as the 4.6L version but the output has been increased to 381hp.
